Leave the bustling city behind and discover the peaceful beauty of Tibidabo, Barcelona’s highest hill and one of its most spectacular viewpoints. Rising over 500 metres above sea level in the heart of the Collserola Natural Park, Tibidabo offers breathtaking panoramas, fascinating history and a completely different perspective of Barcelona.

Your journey takes you through one of the city’s most exclusive residential areas, where elegant Modernist villas and grand summer residences reflect the lifestyle of Barcelona’s wealthy bourgeoisie at the beginning of the 20th century. Along the way, you’ll learn how the Collserola hills became a favourite retreat for families seeking fresh air and tranquillity away from the growing industrial city.

At the summit stands the magnificent Temple of the Sacred Heart (Temple Expiatori del Sagrat Cor), one of Barcelona’s most iconic landmarks. Inspired by the Sacré-Cœur in Paris, this impressive basilica combines Neo-Gothic and Modernist elements and is crowned by a monumental bronze statue of Christ overlooking the city. Discover the fascinating history of its construction, its symbolism and the extraordinary panoramic terrace surrounding the church.

Next to the basilica lies the historic Tibidabo Amusement Park, one of the oldest amusement parks in the world, delighting visitors since 1901. Even without entering the park, you’ll admire its charming vintage attractions, including the iconic Ferris wheel and the famous red aeroplane ride, symbols of Barcelona’s nostalgic charm.

Throughout the tour, enjoy spectacular viewpoints overlooking Barcelona, the Mediterranean coastline and, on clear days, even the distant Pyrenees. Your guide will reveal the legends behind Tibidabo’s name, its biblical origins and its transformation into one of the city’s most beloved landmarks.

Perfect for nature lovers, photographers and travellers looking to experience a quieter and more authentic side of Barcelona, this tour combines stunning scenery, fascinating history, remarkable architecture and unforgettable panoramic views from the highest point of the city.

Questions, answered

How do we get up to Tibidabo?

The summit sits at 512 metres, so we arrange the ascent for you — by private vehicle, or on the classic combination of the historic Tramvia Blau and the funicular where you prefer the local, scenic route. We confirm the option that suits your group when you book.

Do we go on the amusement park rides?

That is up to you. The tour tells the story of the park and the mountain from its terraces and viewpoints; if your group would like to ride the vintage attractions, we arrange park admission on request. Families often combine the two.

Is this a good tour for families with children?

Very much so. The panorama, the temple and a hundred-year-old amusement park make Tibidabo one of the most child-friendly outings in Barcelona, and your guide keeps the history vivid and the pace relaxed for mixed-age groups.

What will we be able to see from the top?

On a clear day the view spans the whole of Barcelona — the Eixample grid, the Sagrada Família, the port and the sea — and reaches inland to Montserrat and the line of the Pyrenees. Your guide uses it to explain the shape and growth of the city.

Can we combine Tibidabo with Collserola nature?

Yes. Tibidabo is the gateway to the Collserola park, and the private format lets us add its viewpoints and forest paths, the Torre de Collserola tower and the setting of the historic Fabra Observatory. Tell us your interests and we shape the route accordingly.
